The Core Electrotherapy Laboratory is a fully equipped facility designed to meet the training requirements of both undergraduate and postgraduate physiotherapy students. It houses a comprehensive range of electrotherapy and diagnostic equipment aligned with the academic syllabus, ensuring students gain hands-on experience with modern therapeutic modalities.
Training Scope
Undergraduate (First & Second Year BPTH): Students are introduced to functional electrical modalities, learning foundational principles and practical applications.
Postgraduate: Advanced training emphasizes clinical reasoning, dosage parameters, and evidence-based practice in electrotherapy.
Laboratory Facilities
The lab is equipped with:
Low Frequency Modalities (e.g., TENS, NMES)
Medium Frequency Modalities (e.g., Interferential Therapy)
High Frequency Modalities (e.g., Shortwave Diathermy)
Actinotherapy (UV, IR therapy)
Cryotherapy (cold packs, ice massage)
Superficial Heating Modalities (hot packs, hydrocollator units)
Academic Focus
The department emphasizes:
Principles & Techniques of electrotherapy
Physiological Effects of modalities
Clinical Indications & Contraindications
Precautions & Safety Protocols
Dosage Parameters tailored to specific conditions
Objective
The primary goal of the laboratory is to train students in the restoration of physical function through safe, effective, and evidence-based use of electrotherapeutic modalities.
